Pre-Halloween Job Site Safety Audit: Top 10 Items

Late-fall installs are when accidents spike: tired crews, dark mornings, slick driveways. Walk this checklist on every job.
1. PPE inventory
Hard hats, safety glasses, cut gloves, steel toes — every truck. Replace anything cracked or torn this week.
2. Lifting equipment
Inspect straps, slings, and clamps. Document the inspection. A failed strap injury is a six-figure event.
3. Vehicle condition
Tire tread, brake fluid, headlights. Your team is driving in the dark again.
4. First aid kit
Tourniquet, eye wash, burn gel. A stone-shop first aid kit is not an office first aid kit.
5. Site walk before unloading
Slip hazards, low door frames, broken thresholds. Photograph anything that worried you and email it to the customer.
6. Two-person lifts
Anything over 80lb is two people. No exceptions. The macho one-person lift is how backs get destroyed at age 35.
7-10
Ladders, dust masks, water/snacks, and a working phone. Boring and lifesaving.
